In years gone by, technicians allied to the tour riders would purchase Brooks Saddles, disassemble them and massage the hide so that their oils, waxes and other closely guarded potions conditioned the leather. Brooks has rediscovered these techniques and applied them to the Aged Saddles to provide a saddle able to shape to the contours of the rider in a much shorter time.
The Aged Saddles are meant for the urban commuter or recreational cyclist, a person who rides for transportation or fun for shorter distances. Due to the limited use, this cyclist needs a saddle with a more supple leather enabling a shorter break-in time. Brooks Aged saddles are easier to break-in because the leather has specially formulated waxes and balms skilfully worked into the hide. This results in a more comfortable ride, from day one.
The Aged Saddles are built on the same framings of our Classic Saddles. This means that they can be tensioned along their length. Additionally, to keep the two flaps together, the Aged Saddles feature a series of holes on each side and a lace passing though them. This prevents the saddle from opening up, due to the softer leather employed (see pictures).
