We take you on a one-of-a-kind journey, traversing five distinct natural biomes; with the Cape Floral Kingdom as backdrop, into the semi-desert magical Karoo, the lush wetlands of the Garden Route, a world-class Big Five Reserve nestled within the Addo-bush ecosystem and onto the true bushveldt at Kruger in the north of the country. Enjoy invigorating exercise, breathtaking landscapes, gourmet food & wine pairing, and the best hospitality in Africa!

Day 1 – Arrival Johannesburg, transfer to the Middelveld

Welcome to South Africa! We meet at our airport hotel at 8am for the short two-hour shuttle to Badplaas on the escarpment, the gateway to the northern territories. A five-star lodge on a private game reserve will be our home for the next two nights.  Your trip leaders will give you an overview of the journey and will then accompany you on the first game viewing cycle of the tour. We learn what distinguishes the middleveld from the high and-lowvelds and we have fascinating views of game as we cycle close by.

Day 2 – Nkomazi Safari

A sunrise bush walk precedes a delicious homemade breakfast laid out on blankets overlooking a watering hole favoured by jackal, zebra, eland and lion. Back at camp, we join the head ranger for a fascinating talk on local customs and traditions of the indigenous tribes before lunch on the veranda of the tented main building. We then visit a neighboring community for an unforgettable cultural exchange. The afternoon is free and we meet again for a sunset game drive and a toast to the setting African sun which rounds off the perfect first day. Candle-lit dinner in the boma and stargazing awaits.

Day 3 – Kruger National Park, Jock Safari

This morning we pack our bags, heading to Kruger National Park and the adjacent private game reserve, Jock!  Activities include a picnic on the banks of the Crocodile River, and a late afternoon talk & walk with a ranger. For those who wish the two-wheeler experience, a circuit outside the reserve has been laid out just for you.  Dinner will be at the lodge.

Day 4 – Private Game Encounters, where the lion roars

Our first day in at this prestigious boutique lodge includes a guided walk in true Big Five country; but don’t miss out, the smaller critters and creatures have donned their finest to impress! The afternoon is free to enjoy the comforts of your private deck or to partake in any of the three optional activities available, including the lion walk!
