4 Day Trip | Atlantic Ocean & West Coast Cycle
We leave Cape Town and make our way along the West Coast and its quaint fishing villages, windswept beaches and rugged shoreline! This region has yet to be swamped by tourists and still exudes an off the beaten track air and it is exactly for this reason that we bring our guests here!
We transfer to Buffelsfontein Game Reserve, a private reserve where we explore an exclusive cycle route through the wilderness with an armed ranger and back-up vehicle! We may get up close to a variety of antelope and plains game, including zebra, giraffe, oryx, wildebeest, kudu, eland, springbok and we can visit the cheetah and lion enclosures to marvel at these mighty cats!
Next on the itinerary is the stunning West Coast National Park, a haven of biodiversity in the region with white sand beaches and shimmering coves leading into deep blue ocean and spectacular bird life including flamingos, pelicans, osprey, sandpipers, and many other wetland species. During spring (August - October), the park bursts into a kaleidoscope of colour with fields of flowers and sweet smelling succulents and flora year-round.
We continue along the West Coast visiting a Rooibos tea plantation at the foot of the majestic Cederberg Mountains, and observing traditional rock art by the San Bushmen who were the first inhabitants of the Cape. We cycle through stunning mountain roads of the Cederberg, past small farming communities, orchards and the Karukareb Wilderness Reserve.
We slowly return to the coast, taking in the quaint fishing village of Paternoster and we ride alongside the Atlantic Ocean to Tittiesbaai Nature Reserve, home to the Cape Columbine lighthouse and we sample the very best West Coast seafood and South African wines en route. Finally we return to Cape Town after the trip of a lifetime!
