Half or Full Day | Twelve Apostles To Sandy Bay Hike
Breathtaking Views To Coastal Surf
This superb hike takes you along Table Mountain's famous Twelve Apostle Peaks, a comfortable, mostly gentle, flat walk following the upper reaches of the lower slopes of the mountain. All along the hike are breathtaking views of Camps Bay's white sandy beaches and the Atlantic ocean's azure blue waters, merging with the sky's blue and the earth's curvature.
As we round the last bend of the upper trail (2 hours or so from the departure point), we gently descent into Camps Bay where a sumptuous lunch awaits, either prepared as a picnic or at a seaside table (seasonal), the perfect reward and sustanance after an invigorating morning's activity.
With lunch behind us, we shuttle or bike (choice is yours) out to the picturesque seaside village of Llundudno for the afternoon's beach and coastal walk section. This follows a wild meander along a coastal contour path, with the crashing waves of the atlantic, our constant companion, only a few feet away. The trail takes us to Oudeschip via the white sandy beaches of, appropriately named, Sandy Bay - with the peaks of the Twelve Apostles now towering in our backs, keeping vigil and witness to our progress.
At Oudeschip, our turning point, we enjoy a cold beverage and a rest, taking in the sun and surf, while contemplating one of the Cape's most well-known shipwrecks. As the sun sinks lower towards the Western horizon, we backtrack on our earlier footprints, only now the sun is a warm caress on our backs, while it lights up the massive peaks of the Twelve Apostles, towering directly over us.
Experience up close two of Cape Town's iconic natural landmarks with this exceptional walk & hike: The maginificent Twelve Apostles and the Atlantic Seaboard's wild and unspoilt coast.
